Flecken Langwedel: Kinderarke is expanding to provide more care!
In the heart of Langwedel, the Kinderarche provides a varied range of childcare services that have been open to primary school-age children in the three locations of Langwedel, Etelsen and Völkersen for 18 years. Weser courier reports that 190 primary school students are currently taking advantage of the children's ark, which not only offers a warm lunch, but also homework help and individual support for weaker students. This type of care is particularly important for parents who often only come home in the evening for work reasons.
Under the direction of Ute Nelle, the children's ark takes into account the individual needs of the children. The rooms are designed to be inviting and friendly. There are cozy sofa corners, areas to run around and opportunities to play and do sports. During lunchtime, not only physical well-being is ensured: respect and social values are also taken into account here.
Care offer and concept
The care takes place on school days from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and is aimed at all primary school students from Langwedel and Etelsen. Langwedel.de emphasizes that access to care is also open to children from socially disadvantaged families or with a migrant background. This creates a family atmosphere characterized by educators and volunteers aged 15 to 70.
Another advantage of the Children's Arch is the close cooperation with schools and the exchange with parents. “The Children's Arche has a large network that we maintain every day,” says Ute Nelle. Many of the helpers are former “Arche children” who now want to pass on their knowledge and experiences.
Dual support and new group
An exciting innovation is coming in the coming school year 2025/2026: An additional group will be opened in the Etelsen elementary school, which has been approved by the state school authority and politically financed. The new childcare offering will be housed in the second pavilion of the Etels primary school. This is a sign that interest in a needs-based care offering is constantly growing.
There is also the option to register for special support courses offered by committed students from the region. The children not only receive support with their homework, but can also strengthen their social and emotional skills. Diakoniewerk Essen shows how important such offers are for the successful integration of children into the school system.
The Children's Arch also receives generous support through donations, which enable excursions and special projects. A regular supply of fruit is ensured through a cooperation with Edeka-Schinck and ensures a healthy diet.
The children's ark remains not only a place of care, but also a space for encounters and development. Whether playing, learning or just having lunch together - the focus is on the needs of the children and promoting their talents comes first.
