Renai Hart leads Hannoveraner International into a new era!

An important election took place in Verden today that affects the Hannoveraner International district association. Renai Hart was elected as the new chairwoman, succeeding George von Platen, who died in 2024. The election took place as part of the annual meeting, which took place in conjunction with the World Championships for Young Dressage Horses. These events not only offer a stage for extraordinary athletes, but also a space for exchange between breeders.

Katy Holder-Vale from Great Britain and Sara Jensen from Denmark were also elected as alternates. The distribution of tasks is special because Katy Holder-Vale is already chairwoman of the British Hanoverian Society and managing director of the WBFSH, while Sara Jensen heads the Danish horse breeding association. Together they will work to represent the interests of Hanoverian breeders abroad.

An association with tradition

The Hanoverian Association itself was founded in 1922 and is central to maintaining the breeding tradition. A lot has happened in recent years and the association is divided into three levels: general association, supra-regional district associations and local horse breeding clubs. More than 85 clubs are directly linked to the association, which underlines the importance of this structure. The breeding clubs not only organize events such as stud book registrations or broodmare tests, but also strengthen cohesion within the clubs and exchange among members.

Particularly noteworthy is the district association Hannoveraner International, which represents the interests of breeders abroad. Its members not only include subsidiary associations from Australia, New Zealand, the USA and Great Britain, but also horse breeding clubs from Denmark, Finland, Sweden, France, Italy, Russia, Canada and South Africa. This geographical diversity shows how internationally positioned the district is and what challenges and opportunities arise from this globalization.

Emotional moments and honors

The annual meeting ended with an emotional moment: Janette Lewis from Australia was awarded the Hanover Association's Golden Badge of Honor. This award was presented by Carsten Leopold and recognizes Lewis's 20+ year appointment to the leadership committee of the Hanoverian Horse Society of Australia. Such honors are not only recognition, but also a symbol of the community that exists in horse breeding.

In summary, the election of Renai Hart brings new dynamism to the district association. The coming years will be crucial in setting the course for a successful future, both nationally and internationally. The Weser courier and Hanover News provide further information on this during the Hanover Association which provides a platform to connect and support breeders.
