Jesse Hinrichs breaks record at the North Sea Man Triathlon!
A sweaty weekend at the North Sea Man Triathlon made Jesse Hinrichs from Oldenburg the new star of the triathlon scene. The 27-year-old not only set new standards with his incredible record of 3:43 hours, but also left last year's winners far behind. “I can hardly believe that I was so fast!” said Hinrichs euphorically after his run. In fact, he swam over 1.9 kilometers in the lead and at the end of the competition had a lead of 17 minutes over last year's winner. This was reported by the NWZ Online.
This year the triathlon attracted a diverse crowd of sports enthusiasts to Wilhelmshaven. Lukas Bosmans, who has triumphed the last two years, secured second place and also stayed under the four-hour mark. With a time of 3:58:12 hours he once again delivered a strong performance. “Always a challenge with the Nordsee Man!” said Bosmans at the finish. Mario Teune, who took third place, trains as a hobby athlete for 12 to 14 hours a week and reached the finish line with a time of around four hours. He also warmly congratulated Hinrichs on his victory.
The women at their best
There were also gripping moments for the women. Ellen Ruff secured third place in the middle distance and is now planning to compete in an Ironman in Kalmar, Sweden next year. She not only demonstrated perseverance, but also enormous sporting development, which has been visible in recent years. Hinrichs' latest success is not the only one in 2025. He recently won the Silbersee Triathlon over the Olympic distance in a time of 1:53:46 hours and just missed the course record. Amid the challenges of triathlon, a missing banner at the finish made for an amusing anecdote, as Hinrichs had to decide to cross the finish arc again to receive the proper welcome, as the Weser courier noted.
With over 1,000 individual starters and 75 relay teams, the event was organized by the Tri-Wolves of LC Hansa Stuhr and was widely popular. Organizer Jan Neubauer reported consistently positive feedback: “It was a fantastic event with a great field of participants.” Among the women, Marie-Luise Klietz was impressive, winning the open classification with a time of 2:18:00 hours and praising the organization.
A look at the entire event
But it wasn't just the main players in the individual rankings who stood out. In the men's relay triathlon over the Olympic distance, Harpstedter TB triumphed with a time of 2:07:20 hours, while RV Urania Delmenhorst won in the mixed relay competition in 2:16:40 hours. The company relay triathlon was also a highlight - here the Gerflor DLW Delmenhorst team took second place in 1:10:12 hours. With such a variety of participants and disciplines, it is clear: triathlon is booming and bringing people together to achieve top performance.
Overall, the North Sea Man Triathlon will be remembered as an event full of emotions, challenges and records. Jesse Hinrichs has set the tone for next year and proves that with commitment and determination, anything is possible.
