Closure of the border road: renovation work until Friday in Wilhelmshaven
There are currently restrictions on road traffic in Wilhelmshaven. How NWZonline reported, a section of the border road will be closed until Friday, August 14, 2025. The area between Paul-Hug-Straße and Bremer Straße is affected. The reason for the closure is necessary renovation work that has to be carried out after temporary repairs to subsidence.
The sinkholes occurred at two intersection areas: on Rüstringerstrasse/corner of Grenzstrasse and on Werftstrasse/Bremer Strasse. The first measures could be taken through the temporary filling of the sacks, which was carried out in autumn 2024. The final work on Werftstrasse/corner of Bremer Strasse has been completed since Wednesday, while work on Rüstringerstrasse/corner of Grenzstrasse is still ongoing. These are expected to be completed by midday on Friday so that the diversions can be lifted again soon.
