Grizzlys Wolfsburg start the new DEL season on September 12th!

The excitement is rising: The Grizzlys Wolfsburg start the new season of the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) on Friday, September 12th with an away game against the Löwen Frankfurt. The opening game of the entire league will take place on Tuesday, September 9th in Berlin, where the Eisbären, as champions, will host the Dresden Eislöwen WAZ reported.

For the Grizzlys, the first home game on Sunday, September 14th against the Nuremberg Ice Tigers will be a real highlight. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase “blind date tickets” for this game in May, where both the opponent and date were unknown. The price of 12.23 euros makes the whole thing even more attractive.

Celebrations and important meetings

A very special moment will be celebrated on the first day of the home game: club legend Gerrit Fauser will be ceremoniously honored as his jersey will be immortalized on the Grizzlys' hall floor after twelve years. An emotional moment for fans and players!

There are some exciting encounters on the program over the course of the season. On the third matchday, Wolfsburg will play away against ERC Ingolstadt, who led the main round last season. On the fourth matchday we will face the Dresdner Eislöwen in a home game that the fans will certainly support loudly.

Things will be particularly hot at the first northern derby against the Pinguins Bremerhaven on Sunday, October 5th, followed by a big ice derby against the Eisbären Berlin on October 17th. These games promise a lot of ice hockey action!

Other important games of the season

The Christmas season brings exciting encounters for the Grizzlys: On December 21st they play against the Adler Mannheim, two days later they play against the Iserlohn Roosters and on December 26th there is a duel against the Eisbären Berlin. The team ends the year with a game against the Straubing Tigers on December 30th.

The new year 2026 begins for the Grizzlys with a home game on January 2nd against EHC Red Bull Munich. The last home game of the points round is scheduled for March 13th against the Kölner Haie, before continuing with an away game in Augsburg on March 15th. The playoffs also have a permanent place in the calendar: They start after the last main round game on March 15th and end on May 7th at the latest.

Transfers and breaks of the season

There is good news for all ice hockey fans: all games in the main round and the playoffs will be broadcast live by MagentaSport, while DF1 shows a game on free TV every Sunday. The DEL will also take a break twice a year: from November 3rd to 12th, when the Germany Cup takes place, and from January 28th to February 24th during the Winter Olympics.
