Alemannia Aachen: New training ground creates a spirit of optimism!
Alemannia Aachen can look forward to a powerful new beginning: On December 17, 2025, the city of Aachen decided to release budget funds for the conversion of a former artificial turf field on Emmastrasse. This will convert the pitch into a modern natural grass pitch, which will be used for the professional team from summer 2026. Alemannia President Björn Jansen sees this positive development as a decisive step for Aachen as a professional football location. League3 Online reports that this project could provide important impetus not only for Alemannia, but also for the entire region.
This decision was not only made at the city council meeting, but was also supported with a clear financing model. The investment costs will be borne by the city of Aachen, Aachener Stadion Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (ASB) and TSV Alemannia Aachen GmbH. The care of the new lawn will be organized by ASB, while Alemannia Aachen will take responsibility for maintenance. Mayor Dr. Michael Ziemons emphasized that this project represents a significant enrichment for the sustainable sports infrastructure in Aachen.
A strong signal for football
The conversion of the sports field is not only a benefit for the club, but will also significantly improve the training opportunities for the players, as ASB managing director Christoph Kind emphasizes. The new natural grass pitch is conveniently located close to the previous training area and thus offers ideal conditions for Alemannia.
The processes surrounding the conversion are part of a larger program that was initiated throughout North Rhine-Westphalia. As part of the “Modern Sports Facility 2022” program, a total of 300 million euros is available for sports clubs and associations, from which Alemannia could also benefit. LSB NRW informed that these funds are intended to further strengthen North Rhine-Westphalia's position as a leading sports state.
In summary, the city council's decision is a positive signal that sets the course for a successful future for Alemannia Aachen. From summer 2026, the new training ground will not only be a place for training, but also a symbol of the upswing in football in Aachen. Fans and club members can look forward to the coming developments.
