Semmieke Rothenberger triumphs at the CHIO Aachen – 79.980 percent!

Today there is a celebration in Aachen because Semmieke Rothenberger won the iWest Prize at the CHIO Aachen 2025 in the Soers dressage stadium. The talented rider rode her KWPN gelding Farrington to a personal best of 79.980 percent. The audience applauded enthusiastically during her routine and created a rousing atmosphere. Rothenberger, who has already won numerous titles in her career, describes this ride as unforgettable. The national coach Monica Theodorescu was also there and warmly congratulated the winner on her triumph, which perfectly complemented her success from the previous year, when she won the final of the Piaff Sponsorship Prize.

But the competition was also strong. The Spaniard Borja Carrascosa and his horse Sir Hubert NRW took second place with 77.890 percent. Fabienne Müller-Lütkemeier, team world champion in 2014, also did well with Valencia AS and finished in third place. An exciting competition that once again demonstrated the class of riders. CHIO: A festival for horse fans

The CHIO Aachen is considered the “World Equestrian Festival” and attracts horse fans from all over the world every year. A total of around 300 athletes from 30 nations compete with around 600 horses. The number of spectators is also impressive: around 350,000 visitors are expected to enjoy the great atmosphere and first-class sport.

The CHIO Aachen celebrated its first event as a riding and driving tournament in 1924. Aachen has been the official host since 1933 and has continued to develop since then. The disciplines are diverse: show jumping, dressage, eventing, four-in-hand driving and vaulting are on the program. On competition days, athletes and spectators feel equally at home, regardless of whether in the main stadium with 40,000 seats or the dressage stadium with 6,300 seats.

Around 1,200 employees ensure the perfect infrastructure, including 65 FEI judges and officials as well as 30 veterinary employees who look after the health of the animals. There are 430 permanent boxes available to provide comprehensive horse care, supplemented by significant amounts of feed. The exciting coverage of the CHIO Aachen 2025 will also be broadcast on television for more than 30 hours and will reach viewers in over 140 countries.
