The Eastern Bloc Cultural Center has established itself in the city not only as a sales location, but also as a lively meeting place for art and culture. It is strategically located east of Kesselbrink and is easily accessible from both the city center and the eastern part of the city. A place is being created here where different people – from artists to artisans to interested citizens – can come together.

Culture for everyone

The house has high goals: It should be an enrichment for Bielefeld from which all citizens can benefit. A central principle is participation in a colorful, diverse art and cultural educational life, even for those who may not have the necessary change. Here, emphasis is placed on strong integration into the community. Support for marginalized groups and raising awareness of structural disadvantages are important concerns of the cultural center.

The cultural center also opens up space for creative developments. Through a well-balanced mix of structure and freedom, new ideas and projects can flourish. It is a place of dialogue, meeting and interaction where people from different backgrounds can talk to each other. This diversity is actively promoted and care is taken to ensure that no citizen of Bielefeld is excluded.

A diverse program of events

Bielefeld can also look forward to numerous events that take place in the city all year round. The program includes both the “Bielefeld Cultural Summer” and the “Bielefeld Cultural Winter”, which can be celebrated in many central locations in the city, such as the Sparrenburg or the Klosterplatz.
