Bochum's Christmas market 2025: Magic and lights at Husemannplatz!
The anticipation of the Christmas season is increasing and Bochum city center is becoming the festive highlight of the year. From November 20th to December 23rd, 2025, the Bochum Christmas market opens its doors in the middle of Husemannplatz, where the stalls and attractions return after a two-year break. Like Bochum Marketing reported, stalls are open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with the hottest hours being 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Around 200 stands are waiting to be explored.
Special offers include a fairytale forest, a medieval market and the spectacular performance of “Flying Santa Claus”. This artist, Falko Traber, will float over Dr.-Ruer-Platz every day at 5 and 7 p.m., which will certainly attract a lot of attention. There is also a lot on offer for younger visitors, as children have the opportunity to sing or recite poems on the Sparkasse Christmas stage.
A varied program
A highlight of the Christmas market is the Christmas headquarters on Huestrasse (house numbers 21-23), where visitors can buy souvenirs and get advice. In addition, a wish list campaign will be offered in Westfield Ruhr Park from November 21st to December 13th to emphasize small wishes. The shopping Sunday on December 7th also promises a sociable day for families and friends with a Christmas raffle for a good cause.
For anyone who wants to do some sport, there is a curling rink on the boulevard. The flea market hut and the artisan huts invite you to find the perfect gifts by browsing in person. The Sparkasse Christmas stage rounds off the program with performances by local musicians, choirs and other children's programs.
Event details and important information
The official opening of the Christmas market will take place on November 20th at 6 p.m., after which the Sparkasse building will be ceremoniously illuminated. The Reintier Lounge at Huestraße 21 offers ten events during the market under the motto “pay what you want”, including comedy, readings and concerts.
To keep track of things, the Bochum app offers helpful functions such as a hut finder, information about the “Flying Santa Claus” and a children’s puzzle rally.
