New natural outdoor pool in Bochum-Linden: opening planned for July 2025!
A lot is happening in Bochum-Linden! The redesigned natural outdoor pool is finally scheduled to open its doors on July 12, 2025. Construction work has been ongoing for a year and is intended to present an environmentally friendly outdoor pool concept that combines leisure fun with sustainability. However, possible hurdles are already looming: an important pump is currently missing, which could jeopardize the on-time opening. However, managing director Marcus Müller of Wasserwelten Bochum hopes for rapid completion so that the summer holidays can begin on time with new swimming fun, as radiobochum.de reports.
The current construction site is reminiscent of a lunar landscape, but the use of turf will soon provide green hope. Interested swimmers should be prepared for access to showers, ticket offices and changing rooms to be provisionally organized. Tickets are only available online, so some planning may be necessary. In addition, the outdoor pool is to be connected to an indoor pool, which is expected to open in 2026, according to ruhr24.de.
An outdoor pool with an innovative concept
The new concept aims to offer a particularly environmentally friendly outdoor pool. In addition to ecological water treatment, an innovative energy concept is being implemented that is not only climate-friendly but also reduces energy consumption. According to freibadplus.de, the outdoor pool will work efficiently in the long term through the use of eco-technical systems. This means that pumps are only operated at full capacity during peak usage times to minimize energy costs.
In total, the costs of converting the indoor and outdoor pools amount to around 26 million euros. Despite a tight budget, the project, which is intended to create a positive perception among the population, is staying on track. Outdoor swimming pools in Werne and Südfeldmark have already opened their doors and offer the usual leisure fun, while Bochum-Linden is preparing for an innovative future.
A price for every budget
As far as admission prices are concerned, they will remain stable next year: adults aged 16 and over pay 5 euros, while children under 6 and holders of the Bochum Pass receive free or reduced access. Seniors only have to shell out 3 euros. This flexible pricing policy is intended to ensure that the outdoor pool remains accessible to as many citizens as possible. A visit to the swimming pool should be affordable for everyone!
The anticipation of the new natural outdoor pool in Bochum-Linden is palpable. If the remaining challenges are overcome, the people of Bochum can soon look forward to numerous refreshing hours on the water. A green oasis will be created in the middle of the city, which not only invites you to swim but also to linger.
