Start of the season for Baskets Bonn: First test match against champions Oostende!

On September 13th, the basketball world will gather at the Telekom Dome in Bonn as the Telekom Baskets Bonn take on the reigning Belgian champions and cup winners, Filou Oostende. This test run marks the team's only public appearance during pre-season and provides an exciting opportunity to see the team in action. The encounter will undoubtedly be a real treat for all basketball fans, as the Ostend club has an impressive history with a total of 26 championships and 21 cup titles. Oostende also recently won the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League and is taking part in the Basketball Champions League again, which underlines their ambitions. Telekom-Baskets-Bonn.de reports that tickets for the match are already available in the Baskets' online shop. Pricing ranges from 10 euros for standing tickets to 20 euros for seated tickets, with special family rates available.

But it's not just the professionals who are taking action - Filou Oostende's youth department is also causing a stir: the young talents have secured a place in the semi-finals of the Youth Basketball Champions League (YBCL) and impressed in the previous rounds. In the first game they defeated Telekom Baskets Bonn 95-88, followed by a clear 90-68 win against last year's silver medalist Galatasaray. The performances of the players, especially Tim Waerniers, who shone in both games, impressed the coaches and spectators. According to ChampionsLeague.basketball, Waerniers scored a total of 23 points against Bonn and 19 points against Galatasaray, demonstrating his high scoring rate and game overview.

Ostend's talents on the rise

But the youth of Ostend have even more to offer. Vince T'Joncke, another promising talent, narrowly missed a triple-double in both games, and Daan Pieters is also putting in strong performances, averaging 18 points and 7.5 assists per game. Coach Maarten Caron particularly emphasizes the team dynamics and the versatility of the players, who are able to take on different positions. It will be interesting to see how the team fares in the semi-final against Porsche BBA Ludwigsburg, with Caron expressing concerns about the opponent's physical strength.

With such impressive performances and a clear goal in mind, the encounter on September 13th will not only be a test match, but also a platform to celebrate the future of basketball in Oostende and the talented players from Bonn. Be there and support the Baskets – the anticipation for the new season is already huge!
