Burglars strike in Bocholt-Barlo: workshop broken into!
On the night of August 8th, 2025 to August 9th, 2025, a car repair shop in Bocholt-Barlo was broken into. How Antenna NRW reported, the crime scene is on Vardingholter Straße. The unknown perpetrators forced open a window and broke into the workshop. It is currently unclear whether any items were stolen during this attack, prompting police to ask the public for information.
The break-in took place between 9:15 p.m. on Friday and 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bocholt criminal police ask witnesses to call 02871 2990 or send an email to pressestelle@borken.polizei.nrw to get in touch. According to the local press office, all tips are taken seriously and can help advance the investigation.
Burglary numbers on the rise
What is particularly striking is that North Rhine-Westphalia is above the national average, with a 15 percent increase in residential burglaries. The number of burglaries is higher in large cities than in rural areas, showing that perpetrators often take advantage of opportunities and inadequate security measures. A broader trend is that more burglaries have been recorded since the corona pandemic, which is also encouraging local police to initiate increased preventive measures.
It's better to be safe than sorry
It is advisable for homeowners to take proactive security measures. Mechanical and electronic security solutions are crucial to increase security. The police offer free security consultations to support citizens in this regard. After all, it is estimated that around 80 percent of burglars commit their crimes as occasional or spontaneous offenders.
The incidents in Bocholt-Barlo once again underline the need to be vigilant and take appropriate safety precautions. The police appeal to keep your eyes and ears open and to report any suspicious observations immediately in order to prevent another break-in.
