Break-in at the Dülmen sports club: Police are urgently looking for witnesses!

In Dülmen, the peace was suddenly disturbed on the night of June 23rd to 24th, 2025. Unknown people broke into the office of a local sports club on Friedrich-Ruin-Straße. According to express.de the time of the crime was between 8 p.m. on Monday evening and 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The perpetrators pried open a door to gain access to the club rooms. It is currently unclear whether anything was stolen during this break-in. The police in Dülmen have started an investigation and are asking for information from witnesses on 02594-7930.

A look at the burglary statistics shows that Dülmen is not the only place in the area that has to deal with such incidents. Between September 20th and 21st, 2024, there was another break-in at the DRK center in Buldern, in which unknown perpetrators stole frozen meals, reports the Coesfeld police. The break-in at the DRK center shows that crime does not stop at social institutions.

Development of crime in Dülmen and the surrounding area

The general crime situation remains worrying. In 2023, around 119,000 cases of theft in and out of apartments were reported in Germany, with around 77,800 cases being classified as residential burglary. This corresponds to a violent entry into living spaces, as described on Statista. Statistics also show that the number of burglaries has been increasing again in recent years - the highest level since 2019. Urban areas are particularly hard hit, while rural regions, such as Bavaria, have significantly lower burglary rates.

The psychological consequences of burglaries are often significant for the victims. After an incident, many report a reduced feeling of security within their own four walls. The clearance rate for residential burglaries is only 14.9% in 2023. This means that many perpetrators are still at large, which further unsettles the population.

Police are looking for witnesses

The public's help is particularly needed in times of higher burglary rates. The Dülmen police call on all citizens to be vigilant. Anyone who makes suspicious observations is asked to call 02594-7930. Cooperation between the police and citizens can make a decisive contribution to reducing crime in the region and stopping perpetrators.
