BVB brings Chukwuemeka: Hopeful lands in Dortmund!
The transfer pearl from London has landed! Today, on August 24, 2025, Borussia Dortmund had a special highlight to report: Carney Chukwuemeka (21) has moved from Chelsea back to BVB after already completing a loan season in the black and yellow jersey. The midfielder arrived at Dortmund Airport on Sunday evening and was warmly welcomed by sporting director Sebastian Kehl. His permanent transfer costs around 25 million euros, with a contract until 2030. This means he could become a key player for the coming challenges of the Dortmund team, which currently urgently needs reinforcements. Although BVB has so far only been able to announce new signings Jobe Bellingham (19) from Sunderland and Patrick Drewes (32) as reserve keepers this summer, the pressure to strengthen the squad has increased in the last week. It is no coincidence that the Black and Yellows are relying on Chukwuemeka: the player is seen as a difference maker who can provide valuable input with his experience from the previous season, even if his career was hampered by injuries.
A new approach and a breath of fresh air in the defense area
In addition to Chukwuemeka, Aaron Anselmino (20) is also about to move to BVB. The talented defender also comes from Chelsea. He will initially move to Dortmund on loan, with BVB covering the full salary costs without agreeing on a purchase option. Loud Yahoo Sports Anselmino could even be in the starting line-up in the upcoming game against Berlin – a welcome addition to a defense that is severely depleted in terms of personnel.
BVB's preparation was anything but exhilarating. In a cup game against Rot-Weiss Essen there was only a narrow 1-0 win, followed by a turbulent 3-3 draw in the league against FC St. Pauli. These performances caused unrest in the club, and a crisis meeting was held - including with Jude Bellingham's father, in the hope of finding a solution to the current situation.
Injuries and the challenges of the Bundesliga
The list of injured players in the German upper house is still long. Many teams, including Dortmund, are struggling with personnel shortages.
