Shocking news from Bratislava: The German U21 national team dramatically lost the final of the U21 European Championship against England 2-3 after extra time. Despite a strong tournament performance and the early encounter in the group stage, where Germany defeated England 2-1, coach Toni Di Salvo's team was unable to gain the upper hand at the crucial moment. This is the U21s' first defeat of the entire tournament, securing them the title of European runners-up.

Germany struggled to find its way into the game and missed numerous chances from England. But England also had something in store: In extra time, substitute Jonathan Rowe scored to make it 3-2 in the 92nd minute, thus restoring the old gap. Another goal from Merlin Röhl in the 120th minute made the bittersweet evening perfect for Germany - the game came to an end and they were denied the title.
