Düsseldorf Airport City: future location for sustainable innovations!

EXPO REAL in Munich, which will take place from October 3rd to 8th, 2025, is the venue for exciting developments in the real estate industry, and the focus is on Düsseldorf Airport City. Flughafen Düsseldorf Immobilien GmbH (FDI) will be showing what opportunities the location offers at the city of Düsseldorf's joint stand. Since the first groundbreaking in 2003, an urban innovation location has developed here on 18 hectares that has everything modern working environments need. Excellent transport connections and a clear focus on sustainable development make the Airport City a real magnet for companies that value smart infrastructure, according to lokalklick.eu.

What sets Airport City apart? The unique location directly at the largest airport in North Rhine-Westphalia is just as crucial as the multimodal mobility hub, which ideally links air, rail, road and, in the future, light rail transport. FDI managing director Anja Dauser emphasizes the efficiency and innovative strength of the Airport City. This creates space and opportunities for office buildings, cultural institutions and hotels that not only meet the needs of companies, but also improve accessibility for the approximately 4,000 employees in more than 70 companies, including Klöckner & Co and GE HealthCare. Local office added that the second construction phase, which extends over five hectares, has already been developed in terms of building regulations and infrastructure.

Focus on sustainable mobility

Mobility in cities is a central aspect that not only influences traffic flow, but also the quality of life. According to the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, the mobility transition does not just mean giving up the car. Instead, the focus is on concepts and alternative means of transport that avoid motorized individual transport and rely on environmentally friendly means of transport. Studies show that, on average, Germans make almost half of their journeys by car - a situation that needs to be changed in order to make cities more livable, according to the ministry in an article on its website bmv.de.

Düsseldorf Airport City also relies on innovative transport solutions. The DUSsharing Hub offers e-scooters and pedelecs and contributes to the shift to environmentally friendly means of transport. The planned U81 light rail project, which is expected to begin operations in 2026, is intended to further improve the connection to the city center and increase the attractiveness of the location. Small, electrically powered vehicles could also support this initiative, especially for people with reduced mobility.

In summary, it can be said that EXPO REAL 2025 not only represents a platform for new projects, but also promotes exchange with investors, municipalities and project developers. The developments in Düsseldorf Airport City are a strong signal of the innovative strength in the region and a step towards sustainable and future-oriented mobility.
