Dinosaurs and King Kong: Giants conquer Duisburg!
An exciting adventure is just around the corner for all families in Cologne and the surrounding area: The majestic dinosaurs are conquering Duisburg! The eagerly awaited exhibition “Dinoworld” celebrates its German premiere today, August 15, 2025. From today until September 28th, 2025, visitors to the Duisburg city area, Am Güterbahnhof, can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of prehistoric giants.
The impressive exhibits were transported using 16 trucks. The exhibition features movable dinosaurs that not only roar and blink, but can also move their heads. The special highlight is a breathtaking, eight-meter-high, moving King Kong, which appears in spectacular shows six times a day. Viewers can look forward to an eventful family program that combines entertainment with education, as the show is signposted in three languages.
An experience for young and old
There is an exciting dinosaur quiz for the little ones where they can test their knowledge and earn a free dinosaur diploma. There is also an excavation site where children can uncover fossils and a huge bouncy castle park where they can play. If you need some refreshment after all these adventures, you will find a child-friendly and varied offering at the food stalls.
Interesting facts about dinosaurs are a welcome change not only for children but also for adults. Did you know that dinosaurs first appeared during the Triassic Period, about 243 to 233 million years ago? These reptiles dominated the Earth for 160 million years until their extinction about 66 million years ago, when a massive asteroid impact devastated the Earth. The remains of these giants have been found on every continent, even in Antarctica.
The diversity of dinosaurs
The presentation of “Dinoworld” also illustrates the diversity of dinosaurs. From the giant sauropods like Argentinosaurus, which could grow up to 39.7 meters long, to smaller species that only measured about 50 centimeters, the range was enormous. Dinosaurs were divided into two main groups: the Saurischia, which included the ancestors of today's birds, and the Ornithischia. This fascination with prehistoric giants is reflected in our culture, be it in films or literature, and ensures an ongoing appeal for dinosaur research.
A visit to the “Dinoworld” exhibition in Duisburg should definitely not be missed, because it not only brings the history of dinosaurs to life, but also offers an unforgettable experience for the whole family. So plan a trip and get to know the giants from prehistoric times up close!
