Complete closures in Duisburg: You should avoid these streets!

Today, October 27, 2023, closure-related changes to the traffic situation in several districts of Duisburg will come into force. Extensive sewer and district heating work is now being carried out in Buchholz, Hochemmerich and Neudorf-Nord and is expected to last until mid-December. Residents and road users should find out about the new conditions and possibly plan alternative routes. Radio Duisburg reports that the following streets are affected:

Buchholz: Various construction site activities

In Buchholz, Kufsteiner Straße at number 6 will be completely closed. Canal construction work is taking place here, allowing pedestrian access on the opposite side of the street. However, access to house entrances and garage entrances remains guaranteed for residents. A disabled parking space will also be relocated to keep disruption as low as possible.

In addition, work on district heating expansion is being carried out on Swakopmunder Straße. New district heating pipes will be laid between house numbers 2 and 12a. The entrances to the properties are still accessible via steel plates and pedestrians can also pass through the area. These measures are expected to be completed by mid-December.

Hochemmerich and Neudorf-Nord: Further closures

In the Hochemmerich district, Eduardstrasse will also be completely closed; sewer construction work is planned here until the beginning of November. There is no official detour for car traffic, but pedestrians can still pass through the construction site.

For the Neudorf-Nord district, Oststrasse between Blumenstrasse and Heinrich-Lersch-Strasse will be completely closed due to canal construction work. This work is expected to last until mid-November and pedestrians can continue walking on the other side of the street.

Traffic management in focus

As in other construction projects, it is clear that good construction site management is crucial in order to minimize the impact on traffic and to keep everyone involved fully informed. Poorly organized construction sites often lead to unnecessary delays and an increase in the risk of accidents. The use of the latest technologies and effective communication committees ensures that planning and implementation run smoothly. RIB Software emphasizes how important it is to use resources such as personnel and materials wisely and to carry out regular checks in order to identify problems at an early stage.

Netze Duisburg is also taking part in improving the infrastructure. From Wednesday, July 30th, a district heating pipe will be laid on Masurenallee to the Wedauer Bridge. The measure includes a complete lane closure, with traffic regulated by temporary traffic lights. Pedestrians and cyclists can still use the area on the opposite side of the street. This work is planned for mid-September. Local compass informed about the respective measures.

The construction work in Duisburg may initially cause inconveniences, but it will contribute to a sustainable city infrastructure. All road users are called upon to show patience and regularly inform themselves about the current traffic conditions.
