Youth crime is increasing: study shows worrying causes!

Today we take a look at a current study from the University of Cologne that deals with an explosive topic: the increase in child and youth crime. Under the leadership of Professor Clemens Kroneberg, researchers have investigated the deep causes of this development. The results are shocking.

A central finding of the study shows that many children and young people suffer from psychological stress. Almost every second girl surveyed complained of anxiety and depression. This leads to the alarming finding that delinquency among girls has increased more sharply than among boys, even though girls are becoming less likely to commit crimes. An important aspect: The morale of the adolescents surveyed has declined. Awareness of injustice, even for minor transgressions such as not doing homework, has decreased.

Causes of juvenile crime

The study also identified possible causes for this worrying development. Family relationships seem to have a negative impact on the children. In many households, young people report increased violence in the family environment. According to the study, children who are victims of violence themselves also tend to become violent themselves. In addition, respondents report that they feel less fear of punishment and that their self-control has decreased.

Studies like this are crucial to better understand the dark field of juvenile crime. With 3,800 seventh to ninth grade students surveyed at 27 schools in three cities in North Rhine-Westphalia, the study goes beyond the official crime statistics. The findings provide valuable information on the situation of today's youth.

A quick look at children's products

The friendly face of a child featured in the pack symbolizes the accessible and child-friendly brand identity. This product has proven to be a commercial success not only in Germany but also in many other European countries.

In summary, both the current study on juvenile crime and the popular Kinder brand give us important insights into the world of children and young people. If the challenges are not addressed, this could not only impact the lives of many young people, but also society as a whole. It is up to us to listen and act.
