US Operation Midnight Hammer”: Iranian nuclear facilities massively hit!

On July 11, 2025, the USA and Iran entered into a new conflict that has the international community on tenterhooks. The focus is on recent military actions aimed at rolling back Iran's nuclear program. That's what they report US authorities, that experts are currently waiting for detailed information about the damage to Iran's nuclear facilities. On June 22nd, a total of 14 GBU-57 bunker-busting bombs were dropped on major installations in Fordow, Natans and Isfahan as part of Operation Midnight Hammer.

The military offensive was not undertaken without reason: US President Donald Trump, according to reports from ZDF announced an immediate decision for further military action in the Middle East within two weeks. More than 125 aircraft, including seven B-2 bombers, were involved in the operation, which also resulted in missile attacks on Iranian facilities. There is general uncertainty about the actual extent of the destruction - while Trump speaks of a complete dismantling, American military intelligence estimates that the Iranian nuclear program was only set back by a few months.

The scale of the military operation

Experts agree that Operation Midnight Hammer is of strategic importance. Chief of Staff Dan Caine reported that the GBU-57 bombs used, which can weigh over 13 tons and have a penetration force of up to 60 meters into rock or reinforced concrete, could cause significant damage to Iranian facilities. As the daily news reported, no other country could carry out such a military operation with such precision. However, the exact damage pattern remains unclear and further attacks or even an escalation could follow.

Iran's reaction was not long in coming. At least 30 rockets were fired at Israel - a clear message that Tehran is ready to fight back. There have been retaliatory actions in the past, and the possibility of this pattern repeating itself is high. Iran is also threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial shipping route, which could not only disrupt Western traffic but also harm Iran itself, as the nation relies on oil exports.

A tense geopolitical environment

Some analysts fear that the military tensions could lead to a controlled escalation if political leaders on both sides do not react in a de-escalatory manner. The US military presence of around 40,000 soldiers in the region makes it clear that Washington is ready to consider further steps.

The international community is now watching the developments with excitement. While the United States and Israel have called for a definitive end to Iran's nuclear program, Iran views its program as purely civilian. These contrasts are fueling fears of full-scale conflict and the consequences that could accompany it.

The coming days and weeks will be crucial, not just for the two nations, but for stability throughout the Middle East.
