Scheuren construction site: Completion of the town thoroughfare is delayed until 2026!

The plans surrounding Scheuren's through town have been a topic of conversation recently. Nevertheless, the construction company was continuously working to keep the backlog as low as possible.

Construction site status and measures

The town thoroughfare showed significant damage, so in addition to the roadway and sidewalks, sewers, water pipes and street drainage are also being modernized. Interestingly, cable routes for the fiber optic expansion are being laid in parallel, which gives the expansion additional dimensions.

The first construction phase from Schleiden to Rötgenstrasse has been completed and in operation for a year. In the second section, only the top layer is missing. The third section has already completed the canal construction and frames and gullies have been installed. The asphalt work is underway here and is expected to start on November 11th.

The next steps

After asphalting, the base course, cast channel and surface course follow in the remaining sections. Paving work will then be carried out in the ancillary areas of the third section. Another increased effort arises from preparing the farm road for bus and local diversion traffic, which will be started after the ancillary facility is completed.

As soon as the work on the farm road is completed, the road construction work will continue, which will require extensive sewer work. These are not insignificant, as depths of up to around five meters have to be created.

It remains to be seen whether the new deadlines can be met. The expansion is expected to be completed by mid-2026, unless further delays occur. For residents this means: be patient until further notice and follow the detours.
