Benefit piano concert inspires and supports the St. Nicholas School!
A brilliant charity piano concert recently took place in the Panorama Room at Vogelsang IP. Organized by the Rotary Club of Euskirchen, the event served to support the St. Nicholas School in Kall, which was affected by the flood, and was very well received. In an extraordinary setting, the well-known concert pianist Florian Koltun presented talented young pianists who thrilled the audience with their performances.
Audiences were treated to an impressive performance by three young Chinese artists: Wenbo Zheng, Tianju Liao and Xiaobao Ma, aged 13 to 23, all three winners of the Lanzhou International Music Festival. Their musical skills, supported by the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing and the renowned Juilliard School in New York, left no doubt that great talents were on stage here.
Diverse works and exciting insights
The concert was not only a musical performance, but also a tour through the world of classical music. Koltun skillfully moderated the program and informed the listeners about the composers whose works were being performed. These included impressive pieces by greats such as Georg Friedrich Handel, Franz Liszt, Ludwig van Beethoven, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Johann Sebastian Bach.
In addition to this information, Koltun also offered interesting anecdotes about the composers. For example, did you know that Robert Schumann tried to strengthen his fingers with a “machine” but was unsuccessful? He also talked about Mozart, who “recycled” his own pieces to increase the number of his compositions. Such insights made the concert a real experience.
A particularly beautiful frame
The vice-principal of the St. Nikolaus School, Susanna Görres-Metzger, commented very positively on the event and emphasized the importance of such cultural experiences for the students. For many of the young visitors it was their first piano concert ever, which made the atmosphere even more impressive. To round off the evening, the team from St. Nicholas School offered home-baked delicacies and provided information about their animal-assisted exercise program.
With this event, the Rotary Club of Euskirchen is once again showing how important social projects are to it. As part of its program, the club not only supports local initiatives, but also supports international aid projects. The Rotary Foundation provides grants that fund many such projects, and last but not least, the Disaster Response Grants help with recovery from natural disasters such as those experienced in the region. This not only promotes cultural life, but also provides targeted help where it is most needed.
In summary, the charity piano concert in the Panorama Room was a complete success. It combined musical talent with an important social cause and left unforgettable impressions on everyone in attendance.
