Lullusfest 2025: The countdown for Bad Hersfeld's folk festival is on!

Bad Hersfeld is ready for the 2025 edition of the traditional Lullus Festival, which is considered the oldest folk festival in Germany. Traditionally, the festival, also lovingly called “Lolls”, has been celebrated in the week of October 16. It moves around 500,000 visitors to the city annually, which gather on the 1.3 hectare market square and the 0.5 hectare Linggplatz. The Lullusfest is available to the locals as the "fifth season" and celebrates the foundation of the Benedictine monastery in Bad Hersfeld by Archbishop Lullus of Mainz.

A hustle and bustle: attractions and culinary delights

Attractions such as the 47 meter high chaos pendulum, which whizzes through the air at speeds of up to 80 km/h, provide thrills. “Look”, a spectacular viewing attraction, offers an 80 meter high all-round view – a real highlight from Gütersloh. Adrenaline junkies can look forward to the “kick-down”, while family rides such as “Fantasia” delight younger visitors.

The gastronomic side is also not neglected. In the bulge tent, the cult manager Harry Ghebru and his successor Anh Quang Tran from the Japanese restaurant "Karma" take care of the culinary delights. Musically, the festival is accompanied by the disc jockeys Eckhard Zoll and Matthias Becker, who create a good mood.

Preparations are in full swing

Most of the 52 providers for rides and booths were selected from a total of 562 applications. Game buildings for lottery, throwing and shooting games will not be missing during the festival. The first showmen have already celebrated their arrival and transformed the festival area into a colorful amusement paradise.

Traditions and time -honored are very important at the Lullus Festival. The celebrations contain the inflammation of the lullus fire, the roots of which go back to 1926. This tradition is lit after a special change of change and is a valuable part of the festival.

Although the Lullus Festival has already gone through many ups and downs - including some failures in the past - the anticipation for this year's event is only increased by returning after pandemic.
