Waste heroes read aloud”: Exciting story time for children in Herringen!
What's coming up on November 21st? Things get really exciting for the young bookworms at the Herringen district library! Under the motto “Waste heroes read aloud”, the waste workers from the Hamm waste management and city cleaning company (ASH) invite you to a reading hour. From 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., children aged five to nine can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of books and at the same time ask exciting questions about garbage disposal.
A special highlight will be the story “Egon Eichhorn and the Wild Trash in the Forest,” which the readers will perform with great commitment. The little guests also have the opportunity to see a real garbage truck and sit in the driver's seat - this will be a real experience for many children!
An occasion for everyone
The event is part of the Nationwide Reading Day 2025, which has been taking place on the third Friday in November since 2004. The aim of this initiative, which was launched by DIE ZEIT, the Reading Foundation and the Deutsche Bahn Foundation, is to promote enthusiasm for reading and reading aloud and to strengthen voluntary commitment to promoting reading. The Reading Monitor 2024 shows that one in three children is rarely or not read to at home. Reading aloud is important for language development, education and equal opportunities.
The close cooperation between the Herringen district library and the ASH brings together the topics of environmental protection and reading in a creative way, which should also be important for parents. Registration for this exciting event is required and can be done conveniently by email or telephone.
Take the opportunity to get your children excited about reading and at the same time give them valuable knowledge about dealing with waste! To find out more about the reading day, take a look at the official Press Service page.
