A new personality is bringing a breath of fresh air in the handball circle: ASV Hamm-Westphalia has been able to win Jamal Naji as its new coach. The 39-year-old, who most recently worked for the first division club Bergischer HC, will take up his position on Friday, October 27, 2025. The decision came after the separation from Jörn-Uwe Lommel and a transition period under interim coach Fabian Huesmann. Managing director Markus Fuchs and sporting director Micky Reiners officially introduced Naji before the game against OHV Aurich to inform the fans about their team's new course. Naji has an impressive career, in which he coached Tusem Essen from 2020 to 2022 and then moved to Bergischer HC. The dispute over the validity of his contract went all the way to the Federal Labor Court in Erfurt and is still ongoing today. Despite these setbacks, Naji is optimistic about the future.
