Construction work on Caldenhofer Weg: one-way street and costs 140,000 euros!
There will soon be changes in Cologne that will affect traffic on Caldenhofer Weg. Construction work to modernize the “Town Hall/Citizens’ Office” bus stop will begin on Wednesday, October 29th. These measures are part of a larger plan to improve the city's infrastructure and are expected to take around six weeks to complete calf reported.
The extensive work includes the acceptance and renewal of around 650 square meters of asphalt and 400 square meters of paving. In addition, a tactile guidance system will be installed to improve accessibility. The bus boards and street drains will be relocated, making the stop more pleasant for all users. During the construction work, Caldenhofer Weg will initially remain two lanes, but from mid-November this will become a one-way street towards the city center. The diversion will lead via Stiftstrasse. The total costs of this measure amount to around 140,000 euros.
Construction sites around Hamm
A look at the construction sites in the area shows that the city of Hamm is investing heavily. On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, a new construction site will be set up on Fangstrasse in Hamm-Herringen. This will create an area for those turning left and a barrier-free crossing aid while the asphalt is being renovated. These measures are expected to last around three months, with traffic initially being able to continue running in both directions. However, construction site traffic lights are planned for some construction phases. At the end of the construction work, the catch road will be completely closed for a weekend, but an exact date is still pending.
The costs for the renovation work in Herringen amount to almost 770,000 euros. From Wednesday, May 22nd to Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, traffic on Caldenhofer Weg in the direction of Westtünnen will be closed for a short time in order to also renew the asphalt. The diversion takes place via Werler Straße, Stiftstraße and Rothebach. There will be a diversion for bus route 4, while there will be no diversion in the opposite direction, it is reported lippewelle.de.
Investments in infrastructure
The city of Hamm has set itself the goal of implementing a total of 63 road renovation measures in 2024 and 2025. These projects focus primarily on heavily frequented routes in the city center and in the districts. An investment of around 10.3 million euros is to be raised in order to clear the renovation and investment backlog that has arisen through years of budget security. In addition to road renovations, the overall package of measures also includes the upgrading of sidewalks and cycle paths and the renewal of canals.
In order to keep the restrictions for citizens as low as possible, these measures are carefully planned and timed. In addition, new channels and lines, for example for district heating, are also planned. A detailed presentation of the road construction measures with the greatest traffic restrictions will follow, as the city of Hammer says on its website hamm.de explained.
