Starting next Monday, November 3rd, 2025, a huge renovation of Ludwig-Erhard-Strasse will begin in Cologne, specifically in the section between Caldenhofer Weg and house number 46. Like wa.de reported, the construction project extends over a total length of almost 400 meters and is expected to last over one and a half years, with a planned completion in the second half of 2027.
The construction work is taking place after the renovation of Goethestrasse, which has already been carried out and serves as a diversion for traffic. A comprehensive process plan has been drawn up, which begins with the work of the Lippeverband. A new combined sewer will be built and existing shafts and house connections will be replaced. This is followed by the municipal utilities, which are tasked with renewing and laying power lines. Finally, the road will be completely completed with the restoration of the roadway, sidewalks and tree beds.
Important details about the construction project
During the construction period, attempts will be made to maintain local traffic and sidewalks for pedestrians. Detours will be put in place to keep disruption to traffic as low as possible. However, residents in particular are concerned about the lack of parking space during the construction period, especially in view of the upcoming Christmas shopping season.
The total costs of the project amount to around 2.5 million euros. Of this, the city of Cologne contributes around 1.25 million euros, while the Lippeverband contributes around 1 million euros and the municipal utilities around 220,000 euros.
