After the mother's death: son donates 6,100 euros for sick children

Hamm, Deutschland - A particularly touching sign of solidarity and remembering came from Hamm recently. Baris Subasi, who initiated a fundraising campaign after the death of his mother Semaye Semaye, showed how important it is to be there for others, even in difficult times. Semaye Subasi died on May 29, 2024 at the age of 52, the consequences of cancer. A year after her death, Baris made sense of his grief by supporting the outpatient children's and youth hospice service Hamm (AKHD) on the first anniversary and collecting an impressive sum of 6,323.55 euros. After deducting the PayPal fees, 6,100 euros finally remained for the children and their families who are affected by serious illnesses.

The campaign attracted 188 donors within just 13 days that came together for a good cause. "It was impressive to see how many people participated," emphasized Subasi. Surprisingly, he initially expected a lower sum, but the enormous commitment of the supporters far exceeded his expectations. On June 12, 2024, he ceremoniously handed over the check to Merle Menke, the coordination specialist at the AKHD Hamm, on behalf of his late mother.

a lasting inheritance

"I want the money to stay in my hometown Hamm and benefit those who need it most," said Subasi. This commitment is not only a tribute to his mother, but also an example of how personal losses can be converted into positive deeds. The Akhd Hamm itself was impressed by the high donation and described the campaign as extraordinary.

The focus of this fundraising is on the support of children with life -shortening diseases. In Germany, cancer children are particularly affected by the challenges that are associated with their illness. According to the German Children's Cancer Register, these diseases are recorded and evaluated nationwide, which underlines the importance of initiatives such as that of Baris Subasi.

a tragic reality

The situation for children with cancer is dramatic. Every year, thousands of children fall ill annually, and many of these diseases are life -shortening. The Center for Cancer Register Data (ZFKD) in the Robert Koch Institute has the task of collecting and evaluating relevant data in order to better understand epidemiology and prognosis of cancer. This data is crucial to promote developments in the field of cancer research and therapy.

Overall, Baris Subasis shows action that despite the sad circumstances, solidarity and helpfulness in society are strong. A good knack for the right support can improve the lives of others sustainably.
