Cultural Backpack NRW 2026: Looking for ideas for creative projects!

What is happening in the area of ​​cultural education for the youngest people in North Rhine-Westphalia? In Meschede and the surrounding area, the cultural backpack will have its hands full in 2025. Numerous offers were on the program for 10 to 14 year olds, who were able to develop in a lively cooperation with the cities of Arnsberg, Schmallenberg and Sundern. At a big cultural backpack day in the Holthausen Slate Mining and Local History Museum in June, over 50 participants met to be creative together and exchange ideas. These initiatives impressively show how important cultural education is for young people.

There are signs that the project will continue in 2026, but everything depends on the support of the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia. Interested youth organizations, cultural institutions or artists are cordially invited to submit their project ideas by December 15, 2025. The decision on which projects will be included in the cultural backpack is expected to be made in February 2026. The aim of the cultural backpack is to provide young people with inexpensive and free cultural education offers. Cross-city ideas are expressly welcome!
