New splendor for the Hallenberg open-air stage: The Wizard of Oz” celebrates its premiere!
On June 27, 2025 the time has come: the premiere of the enchanting play “The Wizard of Oz” is on the program at the Hallenberg open-air stage. In doing so, the organizers are sending an impressive example of the cultural diversity in the region. The anticipation for this performance is great, especially because the open-air stage is flourishing thanks to significant funding.
The Westphalia-Lippe Regional Association (LWL) is supporting the open-air stage and providing an impressive 15,000 euros in 2025. This is not the first time the LWL has supported the stage; A first installment of the same amount was already paid last year. The money will be used to invest in the quality of the audience experience - specifically in the new seating of the 1,200-seat auditorium. The total costs for this measure amount to around 130,000 euros. This shows that those responsible have a good knack for sustainable investments.
Culture for young and old
Summer at the Hallenberg open-air theater has a tradition: usually an adult play and a children's play are performed. This year the focus is also on the timeless classic “Romeo and Juliet”, which is currently delighting visitors. Such productions not only enrich the cultural calendar, but are also a wonderful way to bring the community together and entertain families.
But it's not just the choice of pieces that is convincing. The open-air theaters in Westphalia have established themselves as important providers in the theater scene and regularly present works that appeal to both the heart and the mind. Visitors are offered a mix of classics and entertaining musicals. From Schiller to Shakespeare to popular musicals – the range is enormous, as the big names in recent years have shown.
A look into the future
The Hallenberg open-air stage is not only known for its program, but also for the special atmosphere that the outdoor stage creates. This is particularly popular in the summer months, when spectators can enjoy the warm evenings outdoors. There are also many original productions on the schedule. Part of the program also includes the so-called Passions, which are traditionally performed in Hallenberg every ten years and have been repeated eight times so far.
The cultural support provided by the LWL and the creative ideas of the organizers show how important culture is for our community. Stop by when the curtain falls! Tickets and further information about the open-air stage are on their website to find.
When you look across the country's borders, it becomes clear: open-air theaters are an integral part of the Westphalian cultural landscape and bring people of different ages together. As “westfalen-regional.de” reports, the stages have specialized in various genres and enrich the cultural offering, especially during the warm months.
Look forward to an unforgettable visit to the theater in the heart of Hallenberg!
