Flic-Flac in Kleve: Volunteer award for committed helpers!
Flic-Flac in Kleve has reason to celebrate! The popular children's second-hand shop was awarded second prize in the Münster diocese's volunteer award, which is worth 3,000 euros. This award recognizes the tireless efforts of around 50 women from the Catholic Women's Social Service (SkF) in the Kleve district. In children's second-hand stores such as Flic-Flac, parents can find high-quality baby equipment, children's clothing, toys as well as strollers and beds - all at affordable prices.
Theresa Freese from the diocesan committee particularly praised the employees' open nature and warm approach to customers. The store primarily appeals to single parents and refugee families, who benefit from the fact that it offers well-preserved goods. These should not be given away but sold in order to respect the dignity of the customers.
Volunteering in Kleve and Kevelaer
But it's not just Flic-Flac that stands out. The SkF children's second-hand shop “KuK” in Kevelaer, which is located near the Chapel of Grace, has also been a permanent institution for over 20 years. 32 women are involved here and run the store during fixed opening hours. The concept of the stores is based on selling donated items, with the proceeds securing the rental of the premises and providing long-term support.
In order to meet the needs of its customers, “KuK” has created a translation aid with important words. This makes communication easier, especially with Ukrainian families. The volunteers also carry out minor repairs to the textiles, while many donors willingly hand over items they no longer need, which are then carefully sorted and cleaned.
Opening times and offers
The children's second-hand shop Flic-Flac can be found at Hagschen Straße 59 in Kleve. The opening times are:
- Montag und Donnerstag: 9.30 bis 12 Uhr und 14.30 bis 17.30 Uhr
- Mittwoch: 14.30 bis 17.30 Uhr
A film trailer about the activities of the children's second-hand shops can be found on the SkF website. These shops are very popular in the region and not only offer great deals, but are also an important meeting place and exchange for many families in the Lower Rhine.
In this lively volunteer community it becomes clear how valuable such initiatives are for people in difficult life situations. The Diocese of Münster's award is not only a recognition of the volunteers' achievements, but also encourages others to get involved in the social sector.
