Summer fair in Goch: Tradition meets thrills from June 28th to July 1st!

There is a highlight in the event calendar in Goch: the summer fair, which opens its doors on June 28, 2025 at 2:30 p.m. With a colorful mix of tradition and modern thrills, this fair is an experience not only for the residents of Goch, but also for numerous visitors from the surrounding regions. According to Niederrhein Nachrichten, seven shooting clubs will take part in the ceremonial opening - two more than last year.

Among the participating clubs are the St. Georgius Gilde Goch and the St. Kosmas & Damian Brotherhood Hülm-Helsum, as well as the Nierswalde shooting club and the Tell shooting club, which is organizing the city king shooting for the 19th time this year. The parade is accompanied musically by the volunteer fire brigade's marching band and leads from the St. Mary Magdalene Church to the town hall. Mayor Ulrich Knickrehm will welcome around 200 participants and award the most successful shooters.

Tradition and new attractions

The fair runs until July 1st and ends with a spectacular fireworks display. Around 40 showmen are expected this year, with both tried-and-tested classics and brand new attractions waiting for visitors. These include, for example, the 7D simulator “Fantastic Journey” and the obstacle course “Escape”, in addition to traditional rides such as the Rock Express and bumper cars. First-class children's rides are offered for the little fair visitors, including "The Fantastic Journey 2", "Pan American" and the premiere of the "Jungle Journey", which promises completely new adventures for many.

Family Day on Monday, June 30th promises additional joy: Here visitors can look forward to more attractive prizes. Fair hours are 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. on opening day, followed by 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. on June 29 and 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on the last two days.

Road closures and diversions

Of course, such an event also brings with it changes in city traffic. From June 23rd, various streets will be closed to fair operations: Frauentorplatz from 8 a.m., Klosterplatz from 6 p.m. on June 24th and Mühlenstraße on June 26th from 5 p.m. These closures will last until July 2nd, which means that the bus stops on Mühlenstrasse and Adolf-Kolping-Strasse cannot be accessed during this time. The weekly markets on June 27th and July 1st will also be postponed to make room for the festivities.

The fair is a festival with a centuries-old tradition that has its origins in the old church festivals, as can be read on [Deutschland Feiern](https://www.deutschland- Feiert.de/sonstige- Feiern/volksfest-kirmes/). Not only is there a celebration here, but the solidarity of the community is also celebrated. Get ready for an unforgettable experience in Goch - a festival that combines tradition and state-of-the-art entertainment!
