Which pianist will conquer the stage at the student festival on the Lower Rhine?

A musical festival is coming: From July 20th to August 3rd, 2025, the Lower Rhine will once again become a stage for young talents. The XVIII. The International Euregio Rhine-Waal Student Piano Festival promises an intensive musical exchange and is already generating anticipation among lovers of classical piano music. The event will take place in 32 locations in the German-Dutch border region, including Straelen, where four special concerts are scheduled in the Protestant Dietrich Bonhoeffer Church. Admission to these events is free, although donations are requested for the young pianists.

A total of 33 talented pianists from 20 different countries, including Australia, Japan and several European nations, will be presenting. Niederrhein Nachrichten reports that the young musicians can gain valuable experience as part of the KAWAI “Heinrich Neuhaus” master classes, which also take place from July 20th to August 3rd. The master classes cover a variety of teaching content and are led by Professor Boguslaw Jan Strobel. These courses are part of the International Music Summer Campus Cleve, which has existed since 2008.

A highlight of the festival will be the concert on July 23rd, when Florian Albrecht will present works by composers such as Liszt and Chopin. On July 25th, Gabriel Jun Ho Yeo will perform and immerse the audience in the sounds of Scarlatti and Beethoven. On July 30th, Ukrainian pianist Olga Chelova will delight audiences with a sheer fireworks display of works from Bach to Bartók. The Australian Katarina Grobler concludes the series on August 1st with compositions by Vine and Brahms.
