An exciting duel in the Regionalliga West took place today, August 24, 2025, in the Sportfreunde Lotte stadium. The hosts can breathe a sigh of relief: With a narrow 2-1 win against the U21s of 1. FC Köln, the team finally rehabilitated themselves after two defeats. Luca Horn gave Lotte the lead in the 23rd minute with a fine goal. Malek El Mala equalized for Cologne in the 72nd minute, but Leon Demaj made the difference just seven minutes later.
The game, which had 700 fans in the stadium, was characterized by two clearly different halves. Coach Fabian Lübbers relied on fresh faces and made four changes to the starting eleven.
