Florian Wirtz is moving to Liverpool for 140 million euros – family advantage!

A very big change is coming up: Florian Wirtz, the talent from Bayer Leverkusen, is about to transfer to Liverpool FC. How World Reportedly, the medical check in Liverpool is due on Friday and could continue with further tests on Saturday. The change itself should then be officially implemented next weekend.

Bayer Leverkusen has agreed a transfer fee of 140 million euros for Wirtz, which consists of 125 million euros as a fixed amount and 15 million euros in realistic additional payments. Bonus payments linked to a Champions League victory, for example, could even add up to 10 million euros. In May of this year, Wirtz had already signed a contract with Liverpool until at least 2030, which guaranteed him an annual salary of between 20 and 22 million euros - including bonuses.

Family matters

An exciting aspect of this transfer is the role of Wirtz's parents, Hans and Karin, who not only act as consultants but also receive a commission of 10% of their son's salary. This could bring in around 10 million euros for them over the next five years. It is also interesting that Liverpool did without an external negotiator in this matter and negotiated directly with Wirtz's family. The support of his parents accompanied Wirtz throughout his entire career; they were always present at his games and training sessions.

Bayer Leverkusen originally planned to extend the contract with Wirtz beyond 2027. But since March, the young player has shown little interest in continuing his career at Leverkusen. It was only in May that Wirtz expressed his desire to change clubs, with Liverpool being his preferred destination. There was also a lot of speculation about a move to Bayern Munich, but Wirtz's heart beat for the Premier League.

Performance on the pitch

In terms of sport, Wirtz was in top form last year: in 45 appearances he scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists. He had already held his own before, helping Leverkusen win their first Bundesliga title, while scoring 18 goals and assisting 20 times in a further 49 games. These statistics show why he is a valuable addition to Liverpool, who are currently looking for new options in attack.

The fact that Wirtz will play for Liverpool in the future could also have an impact on the club's strategy. After Trent Alexander-Arnold moved to Real Madrid, the Reds have already been actively looking for reinforcements. The signing of Jeremie Frimpong for a fee of 35 million euros is an example of this. In addition, Wirtz's versatility in attack could help Liverpool to be less dependent on the commitment of a top striker in the future.

So the transfer window is now in the starting blocks and the excitement surrounding this deal is only getting bigger. Liverpool have not only signed a talented player in Wirtz, but could also achieve something historic if everything goes as planned. Let's hope we'll see Wirtz in the Premier League soon, and in all his glory!
