Successful premiere: Herscheid dog fair delights animal lovers!

Last Sunday, June 29th, the first dog fair took place in Herscheid, organized by Frank Laudien. In the shooting hall, 30 exhibitors presented a variety of products and services related to dog ownership. The trade fair was a complete success and attracted a lot of interest - this time most visitors came without their four-legged friends.

The exhibitors had put together a wide range. From dog toys to leashes and harnesses to dog fashion and comfortable beds, there was something for every taste. Products for the health of our beloved animals, such as nutritional supplements and pest control items, were also very well received. The offering was not just limited to healthy dog food and chewing items, but also included interesting lectures and workshops.

An informative supporting program

Particularly noteworthy is Kai Dahlhaus's lecture on first aid for dogs. Here, visitors had the opportunity to learn practical tips for emergencies. In addition, an insurance company presented different types of dog insurance that will be of interest to many dog owners. The event not only offered a sales platform, but also valuable information for responsible dog ownership.

The trade fair was a successful event for the animal-loving exhibitors. The “MK-Fellnasen”, under the direction of Annerose and Andreas Rosteck, presented chewing items made from unusable parts of slaughtered animals, while the Großmann family from Plettenberg is planning to set up their own animal fair in the autumn. Pfötchenhilfe from Iserlohn offered well-preserved used goods and contributed to the sustainability of the trade fair.

The dog fair as part of a larger trend

The Herscheider Dog Fair is one of a number of similar events in Germany, as dogs are the second most popular pets after cats. According to information from messeninfo.de There are around 6-7 million dogs living in Germany. The annual expenditure on dog ownership amounts to almost five billion euros - an amount that even exceeds the expenditure on baby food. The demand for such informative trade fairs is therefore not surprising.

Several dog fairs are already being planned for 2025. This is what the next big event will be, organized by hundemesse.de, on May 31/1. June will take place in Mönchengladbach, followed by others in Brühl, Bitburg, Friedberg and Dormagen. Visitors can look forward to an extensive range of species-appropriate pet food, accessories and useful services.

The first Herscheid dog fair was just the beginning. It clearly showed how strong the interest in dog ownership and everything that goes with it is in the region. A successful premiere that will attract many animal lovers again in the future!
