Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde youth fire brigade starts the camp with a lot of enthusiasm!
The Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde youth fire department went on a big trip this week. On Saturday morning the long-awaited trip to Alfsee began for 18 members. This trip was carefully prepared over months, as LokalDirekt reports. Tents were organized, new camp beds were purchased and sponsors were sought to make these exciting days possible. After a joint packing campaign on Friday, we started. The entourage, consisting of a crew car, trailer, caravan and plenty of luggage, set off, accompanied by a large support team, which also included lifeguards.
The atmosphere during the two-hour journey was relaxed and very happy. After arriving at Alfsee, the tent was set up. Here the girls and boys showed their different skills: While the girls showed skill in setting up the tent, the boys had some difficulties. On the day of arrival, youth fire chief Sven Lüno even celebrated his birthday, which brought additional joy to the group. The initial exploration of the site included testing the water temperature and visiting the supermarket. After a small celebration, it was time for a night's sleep - but for many there was little sleep, there was so much excitement in the air!
Community and self-catering
The second day started with a hearty breakfast at 9 a.m. The camp beds were rated “really good” and the scrambled eggs could be refined with various toppings. A very special point was cell phone abstinence: the young people only had access to their smartphones for one hour a day, which had a positive influence on the group dynamics. In the afternoon there was a visit to the lake, where the young firefighters playfully immersed themselves in nature and had a refreshing time in the water.
In the evening, the young people prepared their own burgers and fries, which not only strengthened the feeling of community, but also offered a successful change from the usual meals. There was of course anticipation as water skiing and go-karting were on the agenda in the coming days. Team building and sports games were also on the list of activities that the children in the youth fire department had a lot of fun with.
Playful activities and further education
Fun and teamwork are not only in the foreground at camp. Great importance is also placed on creativity during the weekly training exercises in the youth fire department. In a recent training session, creative scenarios were played out in which girls and boys had to use teamwork to complete tasks - such as getting an object out of a bin without entering it, and opening a beer table without tipping over filled cups. This, as the Kirchheim fire department reports, was organized by department commander Sören Schäfer and youth leader Lucy Bender.
The games are also an important part of youth work. FeuerwehrMagazin lists a variety of imaginative games that provide lots of action and fun both indoors and outdoors. From the “wet relay” to the “water bomb game” to “lawn skiing” – there is something here for every taste. These games are ideal for camps or to loosen up during exercise.
The commitment of the youth fire department is not only a benefit for the young people themselves, but also enriches the entire community. Learning together, laughing and supporting each other – that is the great feeling of togetherness that the youth fire department radiates again and again.
