Classical highlight: Märkisches Jugendsymphonyorchester with soprano enjoyment!

It's not just the air in Cologne that smells of culture - there's also a lot going on in the surrounding area! On July 10, 2025 there will be a special musical event that will make every classical music lover's heart beat faster. The Märkische Youth Symphony Orchestra (MJO) invites you to his concert under the direction of Thomas Grote. Under the title “Nobody can resist me!” Listeners can expect a varied summer program.

The program includes the most famous overtures and highlights from Johann Strauss’ popular operetta “Die Fledermaus” and the touching Fourth Symphony by Gustav Mahler. A very special highlight will be the solo part in the last movement, which will be performed by the talented soprano Defne Celik. This young artist can already boast some impressive awards: she is a scholarship holder of the Märkische Kulturkonzert 2025 and achieved 3rd prize and a special prize at the 2nd International Singing Competition “Cascais Ópera” in Portugal.
