Regionale 2025 starts: South Westphalia is focusing on future projects!
The Regional 2025 presentation year starts on July 11, 2025 in the Sauerland Museum in Arnsberg. The Südwestfalen Agency is the organizer of this important event, which deals with the region's achievements and goals. In a festive opening speech, Dr. Karl Schneider, the district administrator of the Hochsauerland district and chairwoman of the regional committee, opened the initiative. North Rhine-Westphalia's Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst will also be present and praise the region's successful projects. Localdirect informs that the presentation year lasts from mid-2025 to mid-2026 and aims to implement 50 projects in various areas such as digital education, mobility and culture.
What exactly does the Regional 2025 include? 38 projects are currently being implemented and have received the coveted third star. Some of these projects have already been honored, including the Kreativ.Quartier.Wippermann from Halver. The representatives from Halver, Michael Brosch, Thomas Gehring and Yvonne Behnke, are expected to be involved in the presentation of the project later this year.
Diverse projects for a sustainable future
The Regionale 2025 is not only dedicated to culture, but also specifically to the economic power of South Westphalia. According to an overview Regions of North Rhine-Westphalia Over 60 projects were honored, with eight projects currently being implemented and several sub-projects having been started. An example of such initiatives is the digital tool “DigiMath4Edu”, which supports mathematics lessons. A redesign of the city center in Werl, which has the motto “Slow down and feel good”, is also one of the supported projects.
Another important aspect is strengthening the region's competitiveness. Around 80,000 medium-sized companies are based in South Westphalia, including many world market leaders. This economic support needs to be supported through digital and sustainable transformation. State of North Rhine-Westphalia emphasizes that projects such as the “AI and data laboratory for applied human-technology interaction” in Siegen will further develop the region’s technological innovative strength.
A look into the future
With a total budget of around 1.9 billion euros from the ERDF and JTF programs for 2021-2027, the region wants to promote sustainable and innovative projects. This also includes a separate funding pot for REGIONALE projects in order to exploit the region's remaining potential. The mobility strategy for South Westphalia is currently being developed, and the mobility advisory board has already met for the first meeting to discuss planned actions and measures.
In summary, it shows that the Regionale 2025 in South Westphalia stands on a stable foundation that not only meets the economic challenges, but also promotes lively, creative and sustainable cooperation. The coming months will be particularly exciting for Halver, as the Kreativ.Quartier.Wippermann will bring his ideas and plans to the public.
