On July 17th, the Mettmann district invites you to an information event against domestic violence in the district hall. Experts provide information about offers of help and networking opportunities.

Information event against domestic violence: Together for safety!
In Mettmann, on July 17th, in the inner courtyard of the district hall, a concern that needs more and more space will be brought to the fore: protection against domestic violence. From 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., everyone interested is invited to find out more about help and support offers. The Super tip reports that the event aims to send a common signal against violence and for a society based on solidarity.
The focus of the event is the “orange violence protection bench”, where various actors from the field of violence protection will present. Specialists and citizens are warmly invited to talk to each other. The event not only enables exchange, but also makes existing networks visible so that those affected receive the help they need.
A strong network against violence
Numerous institutions will take part in the information event. The Mettmann Social Service for Catholic Women and Men (SKFM), which runs the women's and children's shelter, will be represented, as will the intervention center against domestic violence and the specialist advice center for sexualized violence. The Social Service for Catholic Women (SkF) Ratingen will also provide information using the “LoGe – Life without Violence” offer.
The Caritas Association in the Mettmann district will present its specialist office for violence prevention, which provides group and individual training for (potential) perpetrators. The district police authority will also be present with an information mobile to provide information about the options for police victim protection.
Help for those affected
The need for such events is reflected in the numbers: In Germany there are around 400 women's shelters and over 40 shelter or refuge apartments with more than 6,000 places for women affected by violence and their children. There are also around 750 specialist advice centers that deal specifically with violence against women. The Federal Ministry for Family Affairs promotes these important services and offers anonymous, free advice around the clock via the “Violence against Women” helpline (116 016). Women looking for support can also easily use interpreters.
But it's not just women who are affected. Men also need support. Under bmfsfj.de There is information about support services for men, including a helpline for men affected by violence (0800 1239900), which is available from Monday to Friday.
The event on July 17th will offer the opportunity to talk directly to local experts, ask questions and form networks. Questions about the event can be directed to Jana Lihl, the district administration’s equal opportunities officer, at the email address violatsschutz@kreis-mettmann.de.
Use this opportunity to find out more and help those affected. Together we can achieve a lot and stand up for a non-violent society.
