Mettmann's new mayor André Bär starts with fresh ideas!

Today Mettmann has a new mayor: André Bär took office as head of administration on Monday, November 3, 2025, after his predecessor Sandra Pietschmann ended her term of office on October 31, 2025. Bär, who stood for election with 60.1 percent of the votes in the runoff election on September 28, 2025, leaving Pietschmann (39.9 percent) behind, would like to initiate fundamental changes. In the first few days he will familiarize himself intensively with the processes of the town hall in order to get to know all aspects of the administration. This is reported by supertipp-online.de.

André Bär not only strives for transparent administration, but also relies on an open dialogue with citizens. “More with each other instead of on top of each other” is his guiding principle, which he emphasized during his election campaign. The voting community M.U.T. (Mettmann. Independent. Transparent.) supports this approach by advocating open communication and transparent decisions. Bär has the necessary experience to overcome these challenges: with a high school diploma in economics and administration as well as his many years of work as a financial accountant, he has the necessary tools for the city's financial stability.
According to mut-mettmann.de, Bär plans to develop innovative participation models for citizen participation in order to promote citizen participation.

Agenda and goals

In the coming weeks, Bär's agenda will include personal discussions with department and department heads as well as teams and clerks in order to gain a clear picture of the situation and be able to set priorities. He asks citizens to be patient and to participate in a transparent process. His central principles – openness, transparency and reliability – will form the framework of his term of office.

Bär also has clear ideas about supporting local businesses and volunteer work. He sees strengthening crafts, retail and gastronomy as key factors for improving the quality of life in Mettmann. In his vision, he wants to create a modern, citizen-oriented administration that takes the needs of the city into account.

The new mayor has a step-by-step plan for cooperation and the Constantin investments. On November 12th he will take over the presidency at the inaugural meeting of the newly elected council. His concern: honest discussions, self-reflection and willingness to compromise in order to work together to develop solutions for Mettmann.

With André Bär at the helm, Mettmann is looking forward to an exciting time in which citizen participation and open dialogue will be the focus. “We want to tackle it together,” said the new mayor, who aims to involve all citizens in the change process. Changes are coming and there is great anticipation about the developments.
