So, what's going on in Wülfrath? On Saturday, November 8th, 2025, the 21st Poetry Slam will take place in the charming WüRG House. From 8 p.m. the stage becomes a venue for creative minds and lyrical talents. Jan Schmidt moderates the event, which is organized by the WüRGer Club and presents four exciting participants.
Included are, among other thingsMarlena Schönfeld, known from the nonsense comedy club, as wellEva Stützer, who has already made a name for herself as a two-time Thuringia champion. AlsoHannes Maass, a tour poet from Hamburg, andBjörn Katzur, the finalist of the German-speaking championships, will delight the audience with their texts. Entry is from 7 p.m., so it's better to come early because seats are limited and "first come, first heard" really applies here!
Ticket prices and significance of the event
The ticket prices are also fair: 12 euros in advance and 16 euros at the box office. This means that the Poetry Slam does good business not only for the artists, but also for the audience - a cultural highlight that no one should miss.
An additional exciting aspect of the Wülfrather Poetry Slam will be observed in 2026. The city will be part of the NRW Poetry Slam Championships with its own preliminary round, a great opportunity for local creativity and culture!
A piece of cultural heritage
But what makes this poetry slam so special? Since 2016, the poetry slam has been considered an intangible UNESCO cultural heritage in German-speaking countries. This recognition is not only a seal of quality, but also promotes the visibility and appreciation of traditional knowledge and skills. Because at a poetry slam there is often nothing tangible left behind; it's the words and the emotions that count. The Battle of the Arts emphasizes the importance of participation in order to include different social groups in this cultural dialogue.
The scene itself is perceived as young and urban, with a clear focus on workshops and U20 competitions that promote young talent. The entire experience, from the events to the variety of texts, ensures a balanced mix of emotion, enjoyment and customs.
So don't forget: Come by, enjoy the creative texts of the slammers and immerse yourself in the lively culture of Wülfrath - a place where creativity is very popular!
