Eugen Polanski takes on coaching role at Borussia Mönchengladbach!
A new wind is blowing at Borussia Mönchengladbach! Eugen Polanski, the 39-year-old youth coach, is taking over the helm of the Bundesliga club following the dismissal of Gerardo Seoane. After a bitter 4-0 defeat against Werder Bremen, which was the decisive factor in the separation, Polanski is now required to get the team back on track, which is currently in an acute slump in form. How Picture reports, the new coach will be on the sidelines “until further notice.”
Sports director Roland Virkus, who has already had to dismiss three coaches in three and a half years, is optimistic that Polanski has the chance to prove his skills. “He has a good hand,” says Virkus, confident about the new coach’s abilities. Polanski has an impressive past, having trained under the likes of Jupp Heynckes, Thomas Tuchel and Julian Nagelsmann and was encouraged by the latter to take the coaching route. However, the Foals' bosses want to give him time while they explore the market for other trainers such as Urs Fischer and Edin Terzic, who are also in discussion WDR supplemented.
A fresh start for Polanski
This role is not only a logical step for Polanski, but also a return to his roots. The former player, who played a total of 254 Bundesliga games for Gladbach, has a close connection to the club. He scored his only goal for the Foals in 2005 against... that's right, Bayer Leverkusen! On Sunday he will be in charge of his first Bundesliga match as head coach against this opponent of all teams.
The challenge is great. Polanski has the difficult task of motivating the team, which has already played 10 games without a win this season and has recently played five matches without scoring its own goal. An important task will be the integration of Florian Neuhaus, who was demoted under Seoane. Not to be forgotten: Polanski was previously Neuhaus's coach in the U23, which could bring additional dynamics into the relationship Eurosport notes.
A coach with ambitions
Polanski is described as ambitious and structured, with clear ideas for the team. Virkus already pointed out that Polanski is perceived as a great talent despite his youth coaching past. The next few weeks will show whether the trust will pay off and whether the new coach can be transferred as interim coach into a permanent solution.
The next games will definitely be exciting — for Polanski, the players and the fans. We hope that everyone involved will see this new attempt bear fruit and that Borussia Mönchengladbach will quickly get back on the road to success.
