Mönchengladbach’s Skillzup”: Future project for digital talents started!
Something is happening in Mönchengladbach - to be precise, work is being done on the basis for the future of the business location. With the “Skillzup” project, which is part of the start-up factory, the city is showing how important it is to promote young talent in the digital sector. The initiative, which is based at the Mönchengladbach Municipal Economic Development Agency (WFMG), has already set itself the goal of improving the digital understanding and skills of young people aged 10 to 25 and making them fit for the working world of tomorrow. As rp-online.de reports, over 2,300 people have used the offers of this project to date.
The Mönchengladbach start-up factory has set itself the goal of not only supporting start-up projects, but also reducing the number of business tasks. It is supported by more than 25 cooperation partners, including schools, companies and other institutions. This approach shows that the city offers a whole portfolio of courses and support formats to make start-ups more resilient. The topics range from “Digi Basics” to advanced content such as AI and data security. This variety of offerings ensures that there is something for everyone, regardless of individual prior knowledge.
Diverse offers for the target group
The start-up factory, which opened at the Cityhaus at Mühlenstrasse 2-4 in Rheydt, is aimed at a wide range of people: from those interested in starting a business to startups to specialists and managers. But schoolchildren, trainees and students don't miss out either. In the courses and workshops at the green factory, care is taken to ensure that participants acquire digital know-how that will equip them for their professional careers. In this sense, the WFMG, as wfmg.de adds, also promotes special programs for female founders and innovation initiatives in cooperation with the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf.
A great new feature is the community of creators, which is specifically aimed at female founders. This community is offered as a special format in the founding factory - a sign that the city of Mönchengladbach also stands for diversity and equality.
Future-oriented financing and planning
The future of the projects is secured: WFMG boss Ulrich Schückhaus plans to continue the established offers beyond the current project period until June 30, 2027. Excitingly, a move to the knowledge and innovation campus area is also planned for larger structures. The financing of the project amounts to almost three million euros, with 90% being provided by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and the remaining 10% by the North Rhine-Westphalia state government moenchengladbach.de can be read.
Overall, the state of things is more than encouraging! With these projects, Mönchengladbach shows that the city is taking a big step forward as a center for innovation and knowledge transfer in the Rhenish region. If you are now curious, you are welcome to take a look at the new offers yourself - an open day on April 27th invites you to find out more about the exciting projects and get in touch with the teams personally.
