Mindful Murder: Crime event at the Castle Nights in Oberhausen!
The Castle Nights in Oberhausen offer a very special highlight this year: On July 17, 2025, the live radio play “Achtsam morden” will celebrate its premiere in the picturesque courtyard of the castle. The work of Karsten Dusse, which is considered a mindfulness guide in crime thriller guise, will be brought to the stage and promises an entertaining evening with black humor and exciting crime thriller flair. The piece is staged by the talented director Tanja Brügger, who boasts a committed ensemble.
What is Mindful Murder about? The story revolves around Björn Diemel, a successful lawyer who is pressured by his wife to attend a mindfulness seminar. This should help save his marriage and improve his work-life balance. “Who has the time for that?” some people might think, but Björn learns to integrate the lessons from the seminar into his everyday life, including his professional challenges. However, this has unforeseen consequences, because if there are problems with a brutal client, he kills him without further ado - of course according to the rules of mindfulness. How he does this becomes part of the eerie, eerie pleasure of the live radio play.
With strong voices on stage
Michael Müller, known from “Switch Reloaded” and as a Grimme Prize winner, will be seen in the leading role of Björn Diemel. He is supported by the siblings Susanne and Sascha von Zambelly, who appear in alternating roles. Together they promise a gripping spectacle that will keep the audience entertained.
The Oberhausen Castle Nights, which have been presenting cultural events in the Ruhr area since 2021, organized by Schwimmhilfe Oberhausen e.V. and the event agency Sensitive Colors, have now become an integral part of the region. Tickets for the premiere on July 17th and for the further performances on July 18th, July 19th, August 7th, August 8th and August 9th, 2025 are available in advance and cost 25 euros. Admission is one hour before each performance begins.
A success on several levels
The novel “Mindfully Murder” has also caused a sensation on Netflix; Filming for the second season of the comedy crime series with Tom Schilling has already begun. The work of Karsten Dusse, who was born in 1973 and studied in Bonn, Lausanne and Los Angeles, simply does good business: The debut novel became the best-selling paperback in 2020 and has established itself as a favorite with audiences.
Anyone who would like to experience an exciting and amusing evening has the opportunity to attend the live radio play during the Castle Nights in Oberhausen. Let yourself be surprised by the mixture of crime and mindfulness and enjoy the first-class ensemble that brings Björn Diemel's story to the stage with a lot of humor and charm. It's worth being there!
