Formula 1 fever in Oberhausen: Experience fascination and history live!
There is currently reason to be happy when it comes to motorsport, as the “Formula 1 Exhibition” opened its doors in Oberhausen on October 22, 2025. In the newly opened OBEX hall, located only about 3.5 kilometers west of the popular Centro Oberhausen, Formula 1 fans can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of motorsport on over 3,000 square meters. The exhibition was designed by renowned curators, artists and filmmakers, which only reinforces the high expectations for this first exhibition of its kind.
The numerous highlights of the exhibition are particularly noteworthy. Visitors can, among other things, admire an original Ferrari from Michael Schumacher, try out the F1 racing simulator and browse through the unpublished photos and films that bring the history of this sporting discipline to life. In addition, the development of F1 racing cars is presented clearly and comprehensibly, with the significant contribution of German drivers such as Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel also being acknowledged. An absolute must for all fans!
Ticket prices and opening times
In terms of ticket prices, children between the ages of 6 and 16 can take part for 13.90 euros, while adults pay 21 euros. Reduced tickets are available for 18.90 euros. The exhibition is open from Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Fridays until 7:30 p.m. and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9 a.m. What a great offer to get a taste of F1!
The experience is rounded off with the immersive multimedia experience “Pit Wall”, which immerses visitors in the atmosphere of a real Formula 1 race. The fun doesn't end there, as the VR exhibition “Fairy Tales: a VR fairytale adventure” will also open at OBEX on November 6th, parallel to the Formula 1 exhibition, which will certainly generate additional interest.
A global phenomenon
The enthusiasm for Formula 1 is global, not least through other outstanding exhibitions such as the one in Madrid, which celebrated the world's first Formula 1 exhibition. The exhibits there included impressive artefacts, including Pierre Gasly's Monza-winning car and remains of Romain Grosjean's car after the fateful accident at the 2020 Bahrain GP. A true showcase of the sport, complemented by historical images, modern manufacturing processes and collaboration with Pirelli. While the first exhibition was already highly praised by F1 boss Stefano Domenicali, the Oberhausen version shows that the fascination for motorsport is also very popular in Germany.
As the crow flies, nothing local anymore, but the unmistakable charm of Formula 1 is gaining momentum and is delighting spectators and fans to the fullest. Anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the world of speed and thrills should not miss the opportunity.
