New beginning for Alstaden: Fezzani makes his debut in the friendly against RWO!

On Wednesday evening it's time for the district league team Schwarz-Weiß Alstaden: kick-off to the new season! Against the regional league team Rot-Weiß Oberhausen it is about much more than just a friendly game for the Alstaden team. It is the debut appearance of Bilal Fezzani, Alstaden's new coach, and given the tense last season in which they narrowly avoided relegation, the nervousness is likely to be palpable. The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. in Alstaden. The team has big plans for this new beginning, and Fezzani, who was released from SC 20 Oberhausen just two weeks ago, brings a fresh perspective.

In his previous coaching position, the team at that time developed under his leadership from a soon-to-be-relegated team to a team that even played for promotion and reached the cup final. Fezzani now wants to take this momentum with him to Alstaden. He sees the club after two difficult years, and SWA President Hermann Buschmann is convinced of his approach. “We want to take a new path after last season’s poor performance,” explains Buschmann and appreciates the open exchange with the new coach. Fezzani has already integrated a few players into his concept and is optimistic that he can lead the team into the top half of the district league table, as WAZ reports.

New arrivals and a breath of fresh air

Fezzani started the preparation with the desire to both score his own goals and concede as few goals as possible. Four new players will make their debut in the friendly: Boran Sezen, Serdy Nguala, Phillip Demler and Wassim Jabri. Another two newcomers, Sergen Sezen and Sandro Garcia Melian, have already been signed but are not yet on the pitch. The mood in the team seems to be right. Many players have wanted to continue working with Fezzani, and that gives hope that last season's sudden crash is truly a thing of the past.

While Alstaden is preparing for the test match, there is also news from other clubs in the district league. SV Büren, which also plays in the district league, has separated from its long-time coach Marcel Czichowski. This separation was not due to sporting or economic reasons, but was seen as necessary to provide a new impulse. Jörg Sieckmann, former U19 coach at Viktoria Georgsmarienhütte, will now take responsibility. These developments underline how dynamic the situation is in the regional leagues, with clubs always trying to find the right mix for success, as Heimspiel-Online reports.

A new beginning for everyone

The path into the coming season is still uncertain for Alstaden, but with Bilal Fezzani and the newly added players, a refreshingly different wind seems to be blowing through the club's strategy. The pressure to put last season behind him is palpable, but Fezzani sees the challenges as an opportunity. “I have a good feeling,” he says. “The team has potential and together we will work to achieve the best possible!” The fans are also excited to see how their team will perform in the new season, and tonight is just the first step in what will hopefully be a more successful time for Schwarz-Weiß Alstaden.
