Biggesee Open Air: 7,000 fans celebrate the big EDM spectacle!

Last long holiday weekend, a real highlight for electronic music lovers took place at the picturesque Biggesee. Around 7,000 fans flocked to the Biggesee Open Air, where DJs like Robin Schulz and Neelix got the crowd celebrating with their beats. Again Sauerland courier reported, the event quickly turned into a rousing EDM party.

The atmosphere was characterized by an exuberant mood, which was captured by photographers. These documented not only the festival visitors, but also the energy and the special atmosphere that such an event brings with it. A pleasure for all senses!

Great interest in music festivals

Such events are not only locally important, but also have a broader context. A scientific team from the University of Paderborn is currently working on a comprehensive inventory of the music festival landscape in Germany. The research within the Festival study is intended to provide important insights into the structural, economic, ecological and social dimensions of music festivals. From classical music to electronic dance music to heavy metal – the study covers all genres.

The plan is to carry out the first phase of the study by August 2024. Not only online surveys are used, but also expert interviews in order to capture real economic key figures and cultural dimensions. This initiative is led by the research center “C:POP”, which is known for its transdisciplinary approaches and has gained deep insights into pop music cultures over the last 20 years.

Future of festivals

The need for clear data about music festivals is huge, and this is also reflected in the well-attended discussions and panels at trade fairs and conferences. The aim is to better understand the challenges and needs of the festivals and to make recommendations based on this. The results of this study could be a decisive step forward for the festival scene.
