Thieves caught in Neuss: serial robberies on craftsmen's cars solved!

There is an ongoing problem with car break-ins in Neuss, which has recently caused a stir. On November 10, 2025, four men were arrested by police in downtown Neuss while sitting in a stolen car. When police searched the vehicle, they discovered they were in possession of stolen property from previous car break-ins. Officials suspect that these men are responsible for a recent series of break-ins, in which three craftsman vans in particular were targeted by thieves, from which expensive tools were stolen, reports WDR.

The difficulties with car thefts and burglaries are not new in the region. There have been an increasing number of incidents in recent weeks, particularly in Neuss and the Rhein district. On Monday, the authorities were called to several break-ins in which the thieves targeted commercial vehicles. In an incident on Augustinusstrasse, the side window of a Citroën Berlingo was smashed and two Xiaomi e-scooters were stolen. The police were also called on Fontanestrasse and Arndtstrasse after tools and other items were stolen from vans RP Online reported.

A series of burglaries causes unrest

The situation is extremely worrying for many citizens in Neuss. On Monday alone, several incidents were reported at various locations in Neuss. A 37-year-old man was arrested on Nordkanalallee for carrying suspected stolen goods. Investigators believe that many of the break-ins can be traced back to a network of perpetrators who work systematically.

There were also reports that the side window of a Mercedes station wagon was smashed on Kolpingstrasse between Sunday evening and Monday afternoon, but fortunately nothing was stolen. A break-in was also recently committed on Oberstrasse, in which a perpetrator stole cigarettes and coins from a French DS4 and fled towards German Unity Square. The description of the perpetrator indicates that he was around 30 years old with a southern appearance and was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Call for help

The police are now increasingly looking for witnesses who can provide information about the current crimes. Citizens are asked to contact the Criminal Police Office 14 in Neuss on 02131 300-0. Investigators are also looking for the owners of various items related to the break-ins, including sunglasses, a pocket watch and a very conspicuous car key with a gear-shift pendant.

The ongoing thefts and burglaries place a great burden on the citizens of Neuss. It remains to be seen how the police can respond to these challenges in order to restore security in the region.
