Reuterparkfest: Sport, fun and inclusion on September 27th in Bonn!

On Saturday, September 27, 2025, the Reuterpark in Bonn will become a center for exercise and community. As part of the European Week of Sport Numerous activities under the motto “#BeActive in Reuterpark” are on the program from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The day is organized by the Sports and Baths Office of the City of Bonn in collaboration with various cooperation partners and promises a colorful potpourri of sport, creativity and inclusion.

A special highlight of the festival will be the inclusive stage program, which begins at 10:30 a.m. in front of the House of Youth. Moderated and with a sign language interpreter, there will also be a talk session from around 2 p.m. in which, among others, Mayor Katja Dörner will have her say.

A variety of hands-on stations

There is an almost endless range of hands-on stations for sports enthusiasts young and old. The sports youth of the Bonn City Sports Association attract with the Bonn children's sports badge, while the AFC Bonn Gamecocks 1988 offers exciting sports activities. The Telekom Baskets Bonn are also represented with skate and stunt scooter rentals. If you feel like kicking, you can do so in the shared soccer court with “YouMo!” do. A sports station for Special Olympics NRW and many other activities at the climbing playground or in the Youth House round off the offer.

The Reuterparkfest is not only a break from everyday life, but also an opportunity to discover the newly designed areas of the park. An exhibition by the RMPSL planning office provides insights into the history of Reuterpark, while guided tours provide information about the construction work and planned play equipment.

Environmental awareness at every stand

The environmentally friendly concept is particularly noteworthy: a reusable deposit system is used at the food stands. This is intended to help reduce the event's ecological footprint and promote awareness of sustainability.

The initiative group “A Place for All”, which was set up in 2013 to redesign the Ascheplatz, is significantly involved in the organization of the festival. He is committed to inclusion in the community and brings together representatives from work for the disabled, care for the elderly, sports and youth welfare.

The European Week of Sport, which will be held from September 23rd to 30th, 2025, appears this year with a special focus on the values of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. This initiative is intended to provide an impetus for people to perceive sport as a medium of integration and health. The #BeActive campaign supports integration and promotes movement in 42 European countries.

But what does the reality look like? According to WHO figures, almost a third of adults and around 80 percent of young people in Europe do not get enough exercise. The events of the European Week of Sport are intended to send a clear signal and strengthen social participation through physical activity. Germany will also participate with an extensive program that is coordinated by the German Gymnastics Federation.

The Reuterparkfest not only brings a wealth of sports and exercise opportunities, but also an important point in the common cause for more activity and social participation. The initiative has the potential to motivate people of all ages and promote an active lifestyle.
